Dr. Doug Richey
Dr. Doug Richey was called as Pisgah’s Senior Pastor in September of ‘05 and began serving us in November of that year. He earned a B.S.B.A. from the University of Central Missouri in ’94, and subsequently earned the M.Div., M.A., Th.M., and D.Min. degrees from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. In addition to pastoral responsibilities, Dr. Richey serves as a Law Enforcement Chaplain with the MSHP and Clay County Sheriff’s Office, and also serves as a State Representative in Missouri’s General Assembly. Dr. Richey has also served in many capacities in the MBC and the SBC, including the following: Trustee for MBTS and MBU; President for the MO Baptist Pastors’ Conference; Chairman of the SBC Committee on Nominations; 2nd Vice President of the MBC; Chairman of the MBC Resolutions Committee; Vice Chairman of the SBC Credentials Committee; and, President of the MBTS National & State Alumni Associations. Dr. Richey’s community involvement includes his participation in the: Excelsior Springs Public Safety Sales Tax Oversight Committee; Excelsior Springs Community Center Board; FBI’s KCFBICAAA Speakers’ Bureau; and, Excelsior Springs Christian Ministerial Alliance. Married in March of ’96, Doug and Jennifer are the proud parents of two daughters.
Gary Barkley has been a member of Pisgah Baptist since 1979, was ordained as a Deacon in 1983, and began serving us pastorally in 2003. He has earned a B.S. degree from Liberty University. Pastor Barkley has served the MBC as a member of the Executive Board from 2001 to 2007, and has served the SBC as a Trustee of the International Mission Board from 2011 to 2019. His community involvement includes his participation in the Excelsior Springs Christian Ministerial Alliance and PBC’s disaster relief and benevolence efforts. Married in October of ’74, Pastor Barkley and Diane have three grown daughters and are blessed by five grandchildren.
Mark D. Spohn has been a member of Pisgah Baptist since 1984 and has served in many volunteer capacities since that time. Pastor Spohn began his vocational ministry with Pisgah in 1999 when he began to serve formally in music ministry. He transitioned out of music ministry in 2018 and continues to serve our congregation pastorally. Pastor Spohn’s community involvement includes his participation in the: Downtown Excelsior Partnership; Excelsior Springs Public Safety Sales Tax Oversight Committee; Excelsior Springs Chamber of Commerce; Excelsior Springs TIF Commission; and, as the proprietor of the Payne Jailhouse Bed & Breakfast, a business that he and his wife, Anna Sue, enjoy tremendously. Pastor Spohn has attended classes at Park College and Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Married in April of ’88, he and Anna Sue have two grown sons and are blessed by three grandchildren.
Gabriel Zelaya was called to serve our congregation as an Associate Pastor of Worship, in December of 2018. Gabriel has served in various capacities within worship ministry for the past eight years and is currently working toward a B.A. degree at Spurgeon College. As a former competitive soccer player, he works within the community helping people move toward healthier lives as a Health Coach, and as an owner of a local nutritional business.
J.D. Frick was called to serve our congregation as Student Minister in 2010. Previous to serving PBC, J.D. had served in various roles within youth ministry for approximately four years. He has earned a B.A. degree from Park University, a Biblical Studies Certificate from Word of Life Bible Institute, and a M.A.T.S. degree from MBTS. Married in March of ’07, he and Meghan are the proud parents of two daughters.
Children’s Ministry Director
Meghan Frick was called to serve our congregation as Children’s Ministry Director in 2016. Meghan has been working in areas of children’s ministry since she was a teenager, taking on more responsibility as God provided opportunities. This involvement and her love for children became key components to her understanding God’s call to serve children. Meghan has earned a B.A. degree in Elementary Education from Park University. Married in March of ’07, she and J.D. are the proud parents of two daughters.
Greg Gilmore was called to serve our congregation as Choral Director in 2005. Having previously taught choir and music, Greg brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to our congregation. He has earned the B.M.E. and B.M. degrees from UCM and the M.M. and Ed.S. degrees from MU. In addition to his choral directing responsibilities, Greg also leads PBC’s men’s ministry (Christ’s Cadre). Married in June of 1995, he and Gwen are the proud parents of three daughters.
