Do You Love Jesus?

What is the love of your life?  Many have a love for baseball, art, music, cars, etc.  Others are driven by their love for work.  They are so immersed in their career that anything that gets in the way frustrates them.  What is your love?

The Bible clearly outlines the necessity of our love for Jesus Christ, the Son of God.  Do you Love Jesus?  Is Jesus the love of your life?  Have you placed Him above everything else in this world, including sports, work, recreation, hobbies, etc?  My prayer for you is that you have.  The Apostle Paul states, ‘If anyone does not love the Lord, he is to be accursed’ (1 Corinthians 16:22).  Why would Paul say something so harsh?  Paul understood that if we are without love for Jesus we are accursed and will face an eternity in Hell.

So how do you know if you love Jesus or not?  Here are a few statements from Scripture that may provide help:

  • We are to love Jesus more than family – ‘He who loves father or mother more than Me (Jesus) is not worthy of Me; and he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me’ (Matthew 10:37)
  • We are to love Jesus by obeying Him – ‘If you love Me (Jesus), you will keep My commandments’ (John 14:15)
  • We are to love Jesus more than anything in this world – ‘Do not love the world nor the things in the world.  If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father (God) is not in him’ (1 John 2:15)
  • We are to love Jesus and show that love by loving others – ‘We know love by this, that He (Jesus) laid down His life for us; and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren’ (1 John 3:16)

I encourage you to consider your ultimate love.  If you discover your ultimate love is anything other than Jesus Christ, then stop and call upon Christ.  You’ll find that once your ultimate love is positioned properly upon Jesus, then everything else falls into place.  Life becomes fulfilling and though difficulties come, your trust in and love for Jesus will be an anchor that will always hold.  Enjoy your life in Jesus!
